  • Presented by Alex Mitchell-Morton.  
    • Alex will be demonstrating the free NVS TunaFishers app from the Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems (NANOOS). 

9:00 am – 10:15 am:  Introduction to Jigging

  • Presented by Dave (Teton) Phillips
    • What you need to know to get started jigging for albacore tuna off the NW Pacific coast

10:30 am – 11:30 am:  Canning Oregon’s Catch

  • Presented by OSU Extension Service Master Food Preservers 
    • Volunteers are trained and certified in up-to-date food preservation and safety information to help prevent serious food safety mistakes.

2:00 pm – 3:15 pm:  Shore Based Saltwater Angling on Oregon’s North Coast

  • Presented by Robert Bradley and Mike Sinnott
    • Robert and Mike are fish biologists with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife on the north Oregon coast. 
      • The presentation will cover fishing from shore for saltwater species such as:  surf perch, rockfish, greenling, flatfish and lingcod

    • If you have found yourself frustrated after a day of fishing for salmon in the ocean or are just getting started, this seminar will unveil techniques to make you more successful. 

9:00 am – 11:00 am   Safety at Sea for Boats and Kayaks

  • Presented by Charles Loos (Tinman) and Dan Shipman of the USCG 
    • Charles and Dan are back to insure you stay safe on the ocean with the five pillars of safety – Bar Crossings, Emergency Equipment, GPS Navigation, Sea Conditions and Attitude.

12:45 pm – 1:45 pm   Halibut Fishing Off the Oregon Coast

  • Presented by Dave Steele of Chinook Guide Service
    • A comprehensive approach to help you catch halibut.

2:00 pm – 3:30 pm   How to Repair Your Own Reels

  • Presented by Alan Tani
